Sleep Paralysis: I briefly awake from my dream, but I’m unable to move. I’ve become fully aware that I've been dreaming, but remain trapped in my motionless body. My heart rate drastically increases, and I begin to panic. Eventually, I lose the battle with my sleep paralysis, and re-enter my dream.

When we dream, our brain switches off our ability to move so that we don't injure ourselves acting out those dreams; but sometimes the switch is out of sync.....
